Story details

Syria’s Foreign Ministry discussed humanitarian and development cooperation with the humanitarian funds of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Doha on October 22, according to state news agency SANA. Qutaiba Qadish, the ministry’s international-cooperation director, met Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, chairman of the funds’ board of trustees.

SANA says the talks considered greater Syrian participation in the funds’ initiatives and programmes, with recovery and reconstruction among the priorities. The two sides also discussed institutional coordination and communication channels to identify areas of cooperation.

The account describes a meeting and its agenda. It does not announce a grant amount, approved project, disbursement or delivery timetable. Prospective access to programmes should therefore be distinguished from money already committed or reconstruction work already financed.
