Story details

Jordan and Syria discussed expanding cooperation in energy, transport, trade and investment during a meeting on October 22, the Royal Hashemite Court said. King Abdullah II received Syria’s Foreign Minister Asaad Al Shibani; Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and royal-office director Alaa Batayneh also attended.

The court’s account places economic cooperation within wider discussions of bilateral ties and regional de-escalation. It says the two sides stressed building on their relationship in those four sectors. This is an official description of diplomatic priorities, rather than independent evidence of new commercial activity.

No contract value, energy-delivery volume, transport opening date or financing commitment appears in the release. The meeting therefore establishes a cooperation agenda, not a completed investment or a newly operational cross-border service. Any practical follow-up would need a separate announcement setting out its terms.
