Your analytics choice is saved for six months in the first-party haberpaper_analytics_consent cookie and an expiring browser storage record. You can refuse or withdraw consent through Analytics preferences. With consent, Google receives device and browser information, an IP address, page and referrer addresses, and cookie or similar client/session identifiers. Enhanced measurement may also receive scrolling, outbound link, file download, video, site search and form interaction events. Event information may include search terms and link or form destinations; we do not explicitly send form field values. We simplify the page address; Google email redaction and selected URL parameter redaction add protection but cannot guarantee detection of all personal information. Admin pages are not measured. Google may process data outside your country. Advertising features and Google signals are disabled.
On visits that start with analytics consent already granted, optional analytics can also send numeric loading (LCP), interaction (INP) and layout stability (CLS) measurements to Google Analytics after its script loads. A first or later consent grant starts these measurements on the next page load. Withdrawing consent stops these reports for the current page, even if you grant consent again. These performance reports contain metric values and generated metric IDs with the same simplified page context; they exclude page element details and raw performance entries. They describe eligible opted-in visits, not every reader.
GA4 event and user data retention is two months; new activity does not reset user data retention. This setting does not affect most aggregated standard reports.

The site offers optional Google Analytics measurement. Analytics loads only with your explicit consent; advertising measurement and personalization are off. Enhanced measurement may record page views, scrolling, outbound links, downloads, video, search and form interactions. Search terms may be included; do not enter personal information in the search field. There are no visitor accounts or email collection forms.
If you contact us by email, your message and the information you provide are processed through the email service. Hosting log retention and the operator’s data handling terms must be detailed according to the live service configuration.
Optional story maps use OpenStreetMap. Opening a map sends your IP address and this site’s address to the map provider; location data remains readable as text without loading the map.
Your selected reading text size and night reading preference are saved only in this browser. These preferences are not sent to the server.
When you choose a language from the language menu or the language suggestion, the choice is stored for one year in a first-party preference cookie named “haberpaper_lang” so the home address can open the same edition. It is not used for tracking or advertising. Dismissing the language suggestion is remembered only in this browser.
Sharing options open your selected platform or device share menu with the story title and link. You complete the share yourself. External platforms apply their own privacy terms. Copying a link uses your browser’s clipboard.
