Qatar’s state budget recorded a deficit of QAR 21.2 billion in the second quarter of 2026, according to figures announced by the Ministry of Finance on 8 September and reported by Qatar News Agency (QNA). The ministry put revenue at approximately QAR 25.6bn and expenditure at about QAR 46.8bn. These are outturn figures for the quarter, not a full-year budget forecast or a cash financing plan.

Spending included QAR 17.611bn for salaries and wages, QAR 19.662bn in current expenditure, QAR 8.748bn in major capital expenditure and QAR 858m in minor capital expenditure. The deficit announced for the preceding quarter was QAR 10.3bn. Quarter-to-quarter changes can reflect the timing of receipts and spending; the two readings alone do not establish an annual trend. QNA said its report drew on the ministry’s official social-media statement. The release did not provide a detailed financing plan, borrowing breakdown or split of hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon revenue.

The value of Qatar’s government tenders and auctions reached QAR 4.4 billion in the second quarter of 2026, according to figures announced by the Ministry of Finance on 8 September and reported by Qatar News Agency (QNA). The ministry said QAR 4.1bn was awarded to local companies and QAR 300m to foreign companies. The rounded breakdown is consistent with the reported total.

The value of tenders awarded to local companies was 52% lower than in the same period of 2025, the ministry said. Municipality and environment, health, energy, and culture and sports led its sectoral performance index. Government tenders and auctions totalled QAR 8.6bn in the first quarter of 2026; quarter-to-quarter movement can reflect procurement calendars and award timing. The values do not represent the final revenue of local firms or the total cost of every contract signed. QNA said it based the report on the ministry’s official social-media post. The announcement did not specify the number of tenders, contract duration or implementation status.
