Story details
Transport Scotland published an outline business case on 6 October examining extension of a £2 cap on single bus fares to the Strathclyde Passenger Transport area. The document assesses the strategic, financial and commercial aspects of a scheme covering Glasgow and surrounding areas.
The document reports almost 1.3 million journeys and average savings of about £7.43 per eligible journey by August 2026 under the existing Highlands and Islands pilot. Those figures concern that pilot region. The business case evaluates extension to Strathclyde and recommends reimbursing operators at 90%; its publication is an appraisal of the proposal.
