UK confirms new station at Bradford Interchange for Northern Powerhouse Rail
The UK Department for Transport confirmed on 20 October that a new city-centre rail station will be built at Bradford Interchange. The station is part of Northern Powerhouse Rail plans and is expected to be delivered in the 2030s.
The government said the new station is intended to improve Bradford’s connections and train frequency to cities including Leeds, Manchester and York. The project is linked to Northern Powerhouse Rail and Great British Railways plans and is expected to replace the existing 1970s station.
The department said it made the location decision with West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin. Bradford Council says that alongside the proposed West Yorkshire Mass Transit network, the project could support thousands of homes and jobs and up to £1 billion in economic benefits. That impact estimate is the council’s; the announcement provides no construction cost or fixed opening date.

Measurement and privacy details
Google Analytics measurement starts only if you allow it. After consent, automatic measurement may cover scrolls, outbound link clicks, downloads, video engagement, site searches and basic form interactions; search terms may be detected from URL parameters. This site’s own code does not send form field values; email redaction in automatic measurement is best-effort, not guaranteed. Our manual page-view event uses a cleaned URL. You can change your choice later. Visits that begin with consent may also send numeric LCP, INP and CLS performance measurements after Analytics loads. A first or later grant starts this on the next page load; withdrawing consent stops these performance reports for this page. The preference cookie lasts six months; advertising measurement and personalization stay off.
