Statistics Norway’s service turnover index, published on 6 October, showed turnover among market-oriented services rose 2.3% in August 2026 from July on a seasonally adjusted basis. The calendar-adjusted increase from a year earlier was 3.7%.
Transportation and storage turnover rose 0.9% month on month, while accommodation and food services fell 0.8%. Their respective year-on-year changes were increases of 5.0% and 5.6%. The index measures monthly turnover value in market-oriented service industries; it is not an output-volume measure or a growth rate for the whole economy.

The monthly comparison is seasonally adjusted; the 12-month comparison is calendar adjusted. Coverage is Sections H–N excluding K, L, M701, M72 and M75. This measures turnover value, not output volume.
INSEE data for 2022 put the share of the region’s most polluting car classes at 29.8%, rising to 48.7% among car-owning households with the lowest incomes.
INE reported that the index fell 1.8% from the preceding quarter in the fourth quarter of 2026. The balance of firms expecting favorable conditions narrowed to 5.7 points.
