Story details

Statistics Norway’s residential construction cost index was 159.8 in August 2026, with 2015 set to 100. The index, updated on 14 September, fell 0.5% from July but was 3.8% higher than a year earlier.

The same table shows labour costs down 1.5% month on month and up 4.3% year on year. The materials index for residential construction rose 0.1% monthly and 2.4% annually. SSB says the index excludes changes in productivity and profit margins and is mainly used for escalation clauses in construction contracts.
