Nigeria’s ACReSAL project published on 21 October a stakeholder plan for the Sarkin-Pawa-Kaduna catchment. The roughly 3.88-million-hectare area spans 35 local government areas and 318 wards across six states. The report says at least 388,682 hectares, or approximately 10% of the basin, require urgent large-scale intervention.
The assessment reports destructive flooding across 63.4% of the terrain and soil erosion affecting 50.1%; the risks may overlap. Proposed measures include afforestation, terracing, check dams, stormwater systems, agroforestry, irrigation and land rehabilitation. These are plan recommendations, not evidence that implementation is complete.

Sarkin-Pawa-Kaduna plan identifies at least 388,682 hectares for urgent intervention
ACReSAL’s 21 October plan proposes land and water measures in a 3.88-million-hectare catchment affected by flooding and erosion.
Area requiring urgent intervention: reported lower bound
Estimates are transcribed at the source scale. 388,682 hectares is a reported minimum; 10% is an approximate share because the total catchment is rounded to 3.88 million hectares (388,682/3,880,000×100≈10%). The period is the announcement day; the field observation day is unspecified. Flooding and erosion classes may overlap and their percentages must not be added. Intervention need is not completed work; no coordinates are inferred.
Insee says the economic profitability rate of agro-food wholesalers increased from 9.1% in 2020 to 10.7% in 2024. Sales volumes were weaker over the same period.

Measurement and privacy details
Google Analytics measurement starts only if you allow it. After consent, automatic measurement may cover scrolls, outbound link clicks, downloads, video engagement, site searches and basic form interactions; search terms may be detected from URL parameters. This site’s own code does not send form field values; email redaction in automatic measurement is best-effort, not guaranteed. Our manual page-view event uses a cleaned URL. A first or later grant starts this on the next page load; withdrawing consent stops these performance reports for this page.
