Story details

The Pays de la Loire regional agriculture authority announced on 21 October that its November 2026 livestock survey will run from 2 to 30 November. Conducted by the agriculture ministry’s statistics service, it will collect pig, goat and sheep numbers as of 1 November, by animal category, farming method and milk or meat production type.

The regional sample comprises 380 farmers: 144 with pig holdings, 171 with goat holdings, 64 with sheep holdings and one with both goats and sheep. The data are intended to help track developments in the three sectors and contribute to annual agricultural statistics. This announcement describes the survey’s scope, not a finding about herd numbers; interviews will be conducted by phone and results will follow later.
