Story details
The OECD’s Jordan country note for the 2025 PISA cycle, published on September 8, reports higher average results for 15-year-olds in mathematics, reading and science than in 2022. The organization cautions that Jordan’s move to computer-based testing means reading and science results cannot be compared confidently with cycles before 2022; trend lines in those subjects begin in 2022.
The share of students below proficiency level 2 fell by 14 percentage points in mathematics, six in reading and 17 in science, the note says. Results nevertheless remained below OECD averages: 48% reached at least level 2 in science, 31% in mathematics and 26% in reading, compared with OECD rates of 74%, 65% and 69%, respectively.
