Ethiopia reports $128.3 million in livestock export earnings
Livestock export revenue in Ethiopian fiscal year 2018 rose more than 35% from about $95 million, while export abattoirs were using around 10% of capacity.
The Ethiopian News Agency reported on 6 September that the Livestock Development Institute put livestock export earnings at $128.3 million for Ethiopian fiscal year 2018. That was more than 35% above the roughly $95 million cited for previous years.
Institute Director General Asrat Tera said 12 export abattoirs were operating at about 10% of their combined 200,000-metric-ton capacity. The government’s target for fiscal year 2019 is to raise utilization to 50% and export about 46,000 metric tons of meat and meat products. Those are targets announced at the forum, not completed results.

Measurement and privacy details
Google Analytics measurement starts only if you allow it. After consent, automatic measurement may cover scrolls, outbound link clicks, downloads, video engagement, site searches and basic form interactions; search terms may be detected from URL parameters. This site’s own code does not send form field values; email redaction in automatic measurement is best-effort, not guaranteed. Our manual page-view event uses a cleaned URL. You can change your choice later. Visits that begin with consent may also send numeric LCP, INP and CLS performance measurements after Analytics loads. A first or later grant starts this on the next page load; withdrawing consent stops these performance reports for this page.
