Story details
Campania announced on 21 October a new testing phase for the Pozzuoli railway tunnel on Naples Metro Line 2, which remains closed pending safety assessments. At RFI’s request, measurements will track carbon-dioxide concentrations inside train carriages as they pass through the tunnel.
The tests will run for several days at different times and use train types with varying ventilation systems. They will examine routine passage as well as prolonged stops inside the tunnel. The collected data will support a predictive mathematical model of airflow; health authorities will use the findings to complete their assessment for reopening the section.
