Story details

At the AccessAbilities Expo in Dubai on October 19, 2026, Emirates presented a cabin-familiarisation experience using spatial audio and tactile exploration for passengers who are blind or have low vision, as well as a prototype accessible lounge suite for wheelchair users. The company said the suite is being developed for First Class, with possible expansion to other classes under consideration. These are concepts at the development and exhibition stage, not services already introduced.

The announcement separately lists services already in use: barrier-free biometric boarding gates in Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport, upgraded self-service kiosks with accessibility features, and 10 wheelchair-accessible chauffeur vehicles in Dubai for First and Business Class customers eligible for Chauffeur Drive. Emirates also said it had completed 80 travel rehearsals for autistic passengers and their families across six continents, reaching more than 400 families. Distinguishing these operating services from prototypes clarifies what travellers can use now.
