Story details

The US Federal Aviation Administration has certified Boeing’s 737-10 MAX. In its October 20, 2026 announcement, WestJet said it is the aircraft’s launch customer and expects its first delivery in early 2027. Certification marks a regulatory milestone for the model; it does not mean the aircraft has entered WestJet’s fleet or begun carrying passengers.

WestJet said the aircraft will undergo final configuration and outfitting after delivery, followed by the steps needed before its first flight in the airline’s service. The carrier describes the 737-10 as the future flagship of its narrowbody fleet and points to expanded premium and extended-comfort cabins and free Wi-Fi. Those are company-stated product plans; delivery and operating performance remain later steps.
