Story details

UAE Investment Minister Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi told WAM on 7 October that foreign direct investment inflows more than doubled from AED84 billion to a record AED177.3 billion over the period discussed. He said the UAE rose from 16th place in global FDI inflows in 2022 to ninth in 2025, citing UNCTAD World Investment Reports. The interview linked those figures to the period since the ministry’s creation in July 2023 and the launch of the National Investment Strategy 2031 in November 2024; it does not isolate the effect of any single policy.

Alsuwaidi also said the UAE ranked second globally by number of greenfield investment projects for a third consecutive year. In 2025 it attracted 1,562 new projects with stated capital expenditure of US$34.1 billion; automotive manufacturing represented more than 30% and communications 29%, the latter driven by data centres and AI infrastructure. The reported FDI stock was US$318.9 billion (AED1.17 trillion). These are national aggregates reported in an interview, and project counts, announced capital expenditure and accumulated FDI stock measure different things.
