Story details

Al Rajhi Bank reported net profit of SAR20.87 billion for the first nine months of 2026, up 13% from the same period a year earlier, according to a statement dated October 21. Total operating income rose 13% year on year to about SAR32.528 billion. The bank attributed the increase to higher net financing and investment income and growth in banking service fees, but did not provide separate amounts for those components.

Balance-sheet measures showed more modest growth. The bank said total assets increased 2% year on year to SAR1.076 trillion and its financing portfolio grew 2% to SAR775 billion. Customer deposits exceeded SAR700 billion. The release did not give an exact deposit total or a year-on-year growth rate, so the threshold should not be read as a complete measure of deposit growth.

Al Rajhi reported return on assets of 2.7%, return on equity of 23.3% and earnings per share of SAR3.27 for the nine-month period. It said its coverage ratio for non-performing financing remained high but did not quantify the ratio. These are performance indicators reported by the bank; the statement offered no independent comparison or sector benchmark. The 13% increases in profit and operating income form part of the bank’s account of its own performance and do not by themselves establish a wider trend across Saudi banks.

The bank also said it issued USD600 million in Sharia-compliant social Tier 2 sukuk to eligible investors during the third quarter. It described the transaction as its second Tier 2 issuance in international debt markets. The statement did not provide a detailed allocation of proceeds or maturity terms, so this article does not infer that the sukuk was assigned to particular social projects. Al Rajhi also cited its “Harmonize the Group” strategy, which it says focuses on integration among business units and subsidiaries and continued digital investment.

The figures cover the cumulative first nine months of the year and should not be mistaken for results from July through September alone. The release supplies year-on-year comparisons for selected measures but not detailed product and income breakdowns or an industry benchmark. This report therefore distinguishes the bank’s reported profit, income and balance-sheet figures from comparisons the announcement does not provide.
