South Korea provides $5 million for food aid and school meals in Sudan
The World Food Programme said on 9 September that the Republic of Korea had contributed US$5 million for emergency food assistance and school meals in Sudan. WFP said the contribution would help provide emergency food assistance to 365,000 people and school meals to 23,000 children.
The programme plans to procure 2,600 metric tonnes of sorghum and millet for emergency food assistance, plus another 500 metric tonnes of cereals for school meals. WFP said South Korea’s contributions to its Sudan operations have totalled US$17.7 million since the conflict began in April 2023.
This is an announcement of donor funding and planned procurement; it does not mean all assistance has already been delivered. WFP’s release did not give a detailed schedule for where and when the supplies would be distributed.

Measurement and privacy details
Google Analytics measurement starts only if you allow it. After consent, automatic measurement may cover scrolls, outbound link clicks, downloads, video engagement, site searches and basic form interactions; search terms may be detected from URL parameters. This site’s own code does not send form field values; email redaction in automatic measurement is best-effort, not guaranteed. Our manual page-view event uses a cleaned URL. You can change your choice later. Visits that begin with consent may also send numeric LCP, INP and CLS performance measurements after Analytics loads. A first or later grant starts this on the next page load; withdrawing consent stops these performance reports for this page. The preference cookie lasts six months; advertising measurement and personalization stay off.
