Story details
Sudan’s News Agency reported on 1 October that the committee overseeing the winter season in Northern State reviewed a 2026–27 cultivation plan covering about 1.1 million feddans. Wheat accounts for 320,000 feddans; the other crops named include fava beans, spices, vegetables, forage and orchard crops.
The committee also reviewed constraints on seasonal finance and preparations to begin funding farmers. SUNA said a solar-energy finance portfolio for individuals and agricultural associations was expected to be activated the following week, while electricity supply preparations for larger farms and associations were assessed. Officials reported that DAP and urea fertilizer were in stock at the Agricultural Bank and certified seed at the Agricultural Development Fund; the report did not quantify those inventories or funding amounts.
