Story details
South Sudan’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, UNDP and Cooperative Bank of South Sudan implement the Rural Enterprises for Agricultural Development (READ) project with support from IFAD and GAFSP. A 30 September UNDP article says the seven-year programme covers 27,511 households and 162,315 farmers, producers and entrepreneurs across six counties.
The project focuses on productivity, market and finance access, enterprise capacity and resilience. UNDP reports that 466 rural producer organisations have been profiled, while 1,408 members and 131 leaders received governance training. These are programme activity and coverage figures, not a national measure of agricultural output.
