Story details
Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification said on 17 October it had completed dispersing native wild and pastoral seeds in grazing areas of Sakaka, Dumat Al-Jandal and Tabarjal in Al-Jouf Region. The work is part of the third season of a programme to rehabilitate natural rangelands through seed dispersal and rainwater harvesting.
The center says the effort is intended to restore degraded land, improve productivity and preserve native plant species. It coincides with the 2026 National Greening Season and supports Saudi Green Initiative targets to plant 10 billion trees and rehabilitate 40 million hectares across the Kingdom. The announcement cites those targets but does not state the seed quantity or the area restored in this operation.
