Story details
The Republic of the Congo’s Country Private Sector Diagnostic, prepared by the World Bank Group and the International Finance Corporation, was presented in Brazzaville on 17 September. The presentation, reported by ACI, identified oil dependence, weaknesses in the business environment and limited access to finance and electricity as constraints on private-sector development.
The diagnostic highlighted four areas with potential to support diversification: wood processing, logistics services linked to the Pointe-Noire–Brazzaville corridor, maize value chains and aquaculture. Planning Minister Ludovic Ngatsé said recommendations would be discussed with the private sector in the coming weeks. These are identified opportunities, not signed projects or realized investments.
