Story details
The Philippine Department of Finance said on October 2 that the Philippines and Singapore had concluded negotiations to update their tax treaty. The talks took place in Singapore from September 22 to 25. The planned framework aims to make cross-border income rules clearer and more predictable, strengthen cooperation between tax authorities and support fair taxation.
The revision is intended to bring the double-taxation agreement, originally concluded in 1977, in line with current economic and international tax developments. The announcement reports the end of negotiations; it does not say that a revised text has been signed or entered into force.
