Nigeria’s public debt rises 4.67% in second quarter
Nigeria’s public debt reached ₦166.79 trillion at the end of the second quarter of 2026, according to debt statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics on 30 September. That was a 4.67% increase from ₦159.35 trillion at the end of the first quarter.
The NBS report gave the total equivalent as $120.93 billion. Domestic debt was ₦91.59 trillion, or 54.91% of the total, while external debt was ₦75.20 trillion, or 45.09%. The figures were sourced from the Debt Management Office.
NBS says external debt data are published every six months. The quarter-on-quarter comparison should therefore be read for total and domestic debt, rather than treating external debt as an independently reported quarterly series. The amounts are nominal; the report alone does not explain the drivers of the increase.
Al Rajhi Bank said net profit for the first nine months of 2026 rose 13% year on year to SAR20.87 billion. Operating income also grew 13%, while assets reached SAR1.076 trillion.

Measurement and privacy details
Google Analytics measurement starts only if you allow it. After consent, automatic measurement may cover scrolls, outbound link clicks, downloads, video engagement, site searches and basic form interactions; search terms may be detected from URL parameters. This site’s own code does not send form field values; email redaction in automatic measurement is best-effort, not guaranteed. Our manual page-view event uses a cleaned URL. You can change your choice later. Visits that begin with consent may also send numeric LCP, INP and CLS performance measurements after Analytics loads. A first or later grant starts this on the next page load; withdrawing consent stops these performance reports for this page. The preference cookie lasts six months; advertising measurement and personalization stay off.
Your browser is sending a Global Privacy Control signal. Analytics is off by default; you may explicitly change this choice here.
