Story details

Mauritania’s Ministry of Interior, Decentralisation and Local Development published rainfall measurements from October 3–4 on October 4. The administrative command network’s figures, carried by AMI, recorded the highest total at Lahraj in the Ould Yengé district of Guidimagha: 208 millimetres. In Tamchekett, Zouleikha recorded 150 mm and Erkhimiya 120 mm.

The bulletin also reported rainfall of up to 150 mm at some sites in Kankossa, Assaba, and up to 90 mm around Aïoun in Hodh El Gharbi. Totals varied considerably between locations. The ministry’s notice lists gauge readings only; it does not assess effects on crop output, pasture, flood damage or water resources.
