Mauritania’s agriculture minister visited the El Regba project in Dar El Barka on September 27 to observe trial pumping and commissioning of the irrigation network. The scheme covers 1,575 hectares for irrigated farming and targets 55 village groups.
The PA.TA.M project, financed by the Islamic Development Bank, is valued at about 7 billion old ouguiyas; completion and agricultural operation are planned for the next summer season. Production outcomes have not yet been reported.
