KISR opens Kuwait’s first advanced marine hatchery
The Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research has opened the country’s first advanced marine hatchery at its Salmiya research station. The facility is designed to move aquaculture research toward production and technology transfer.
The Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) said it opened the country’s first advanced marine hatchery at its marine research station in Salmiya on 1 September. The facility is designed as an integrated system covering broodstock care and egg production, live feed and larval rearing, and the nursery and acclimation of juvenile fish.
KISR said the site also includes quarantine, research and development, and systems to treat and recycle seawater. The institute’s director general said domestic sources meet about 30% of Kuwait’s fish demand; KISR aims for the hatchery to support commercial aquaculture through fingerling supply and technical knowledge transfer.

Measurement and privacy details
Google Analytics measurement starts only if you allow it. After consent, automatic measurement may cover scrolls, outbound link clicks, downloads, video engagement, site searches and basic form interactions; search terms may be detected from URL parameters. This site’s own code does not send form field values; email redaction in automatic measurement is best-effort, not guaranteed. Our manual page-view event uses a cleaned URL. You can change your choice later. Visits that begin with consent may also send numeric LCP, INP and CLS performance measurements after Analytics loads. A first or later grant starts this on the next page load; withdrawing consent stops these performance reports for this page. The preference cookie lasts six months; advertising measurement and personalization stay off.
