Story details

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) said in a 13 September announcement that it had opened its Sleep Health Clinic at Hamad General Hospital for the assessment and treatment of non-respiratory sleep disorders in adults. HMC said the clinic combines pulmonary and sleep medicine with psychiatry and receives referrals from some of the corporation’s medical specialties and psychiatric clinics.

The clinic covers acute and chronic insomnia, excessive daytime sleepiness, circadian rhythm disorders and abnormal behaviours during sleep, according to HMC. Assessments may include home sleep studies or overnight polysomnography when clinically indicated; treatment can include cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia, sleep-habit guidance and medication when needed.
