Somalia’s government and UN agencies said on 23 September that the latest Integrated Food Security Phase Classification analysis projects 5.4 million people will face crisis-level hunger or worse in October–December, including 1.5 million at emergency levels.

The analysis estimates 1.92 million children under five will need acute-malnutrition treatment between July 2026 and June 2027. El Niño-related floods in October–December could expose 2.5–3.5 million people and displace about one million. The agencies called for early funding and preparedness.
