Story details

The State of African Agricultural Adaptation 2016–2026 assessment, presented on 17 September, says 46 of 53 African countries assessed climate-adaptation needs of $566 billion across the periods in their national plans—about $56 billion a year on average.

At least $80 billion is specifically for agriculture; this is a minimum because 22 countries include agricultural adaptation in broader totals. The roadmap calls for help preparing investment-ready projects and building capacity through existing institutions.
