e& UAE said on 19 October that it had received accredited ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification for its artificial intelligence management system. The company and Emirates News Agency described it as the first such certification for a telecom operator in the Middle East and North Africa.

The certification followed an independent assessment by LRQA, which is accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service to certify organisations against the standard. e& UAE said its management system covers accountability, AI risk and impact assessments, lifecycle controls, human oversight, performance evaluation and continual improvement. Certification of the management system does not by itself establish that any individual AI application is error-free or risk-free.
