Story details
Egypt’s State Information Service reported on 4 October figures from the Food Industries Export Council for a defined category of frozen vegetables in 2025. The category excludes potatoes, leguminous vegetables, spinach, New Zealand spinach, orache and sweet corn, and covers vegetables exported uncooked or after steaming or boiling in water. Within that product definition, exports were about $207 million and approximately 171,000 tonnes. SIS said Egypt ranked eighth globally among exporters, with about 4% of world exports in this category. These figures should not be read as totals for all Egyptian vegetable exports or all frozen foods.
The Council’s figures showed a 15% compound annual growth rate in both export value and volume between 2020 and 2025. In 2025, export value increased 3% compared with 2024. SIS described destinations across Arab, American and European markets. Saudi Arabia led with about $32 million, equal to 16% of the category’s exports. The United States followed at $30 million, or 15%; Italy received $19 million, or 9%; Spain $13 million, or 6%; and Russia $11 million, or 5%. SIS attributed these numbers to the Council; the Council’s original table or separate release was not located for this report.
The five leading destinations together represented about $105 million, around 51% of the category total, while the remainder went to a wider range of markets. The figures therefore combine two features reported by the Council: a concentration of roughly half of the value in the five largest destinations and sales distributed among additional countries. They do not establish that every destination grew, nor do they provide a country-by-country trend over the five-year period. The reported compound growth rates describe the category’s 2020–2025 aggregate trajectory, while the 3% comparison concerns the latest annual value change. SIS said the range of destinations and continued growth could support further expansion in current markets and access to new ones; that is a stated outlook, not a forecast with a quantified target. No prices, company names, shipment schedules or 2026 results were given.
