Egypt’s Agriculture Ministry and the Food and Agriculture Organization signed two memoranda on September 10 covering agricultural development in South Sinai and the olive sector. The State Information Service said one project will prepare a master plan for rural and agricultural development, with attention to local communities, women and young people.

The second project will assess olive production, processing and marketing to inform a national strategy and improve productivity and competitiveness. FAO experts are to work with Egyptian counterparts. The announcement reported plans for studies and strategy work, not funding amounts or completed field results.
