Story details
Egypt’s State Information Service said the Ministerial Economic Group, chaired by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly on 7 September, reviewed a balance-of-payments report for July–March of fiscal 2025/26. The report put the overall deficit at about $1.8 billion, compared with roughly $1.9 billion during the same nine months of the previous fiscal year.
The report also described a significant increase in remittances from Egyptians working abroad and said foreign direct investment inflows rose by about one-third during the first nine months. It said those flows supported foreign-currency resources and helped narrow the deficit. The release did not give the absolute values for remittances or investment inflows; the comparison is with the equivalent period a year earlier.
