Story details

Eggs for Congo began operating a hatchery at Mbenzale in Kinshasa on 19 September. ACP reported an initial planned annual capacity of more than three million chicks.

EFC and the authorities described local production as a way to reduce reliance on imported chicks and supply vaccinated birds subject to quality and biosecurity controls. The company plans to expand output and serve a network of more than 2,000 partner producers; these are stated plans, not measured production or current partner counts.
