Story details

Brookhaven, Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, DIII-D and Great Sky demonstrated a superconducting neural-network chip on plasma-control tasks. Two tasks used DIII-D data sampled at one million points per second; another used simulated data.

The team says a paper describing the work is still being prepared. It expects a next-generation chip with a ten-times-larger network in early 2027, then a possible on-site DIII-D deployment later that year.
