Story details

Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) said producers in the Pronamp medium-farmer programme and other commercial farmers contracted 65.7 billion reais in rural credit in the first two months of the 2026/27 crop season, July and August 2026. The figures are based on the Central Bank’s SICOR rural-credit and Proagro operations system.

Rural Product Notes (CPRs), which let producers raise funds against future agricultural deliveries, accounted for 32.4 billion reais, or 49.2% of the total contracted in the period. For production working-capital loans, other commercial farmers accounted for 12 billion reais, or 52.2%, while Pronamp producers took 11 billion reais, or 47.8%. These figures cover loans contracted during the two-month period, not the full-season allocation or outstanding credit stock.
