The real volume of Azerbaijan’s transport and storage services increased 8.7% year on year to 10,931.9 million manats in January-August 2026, the State Statistical Committee reported on September 11. Freight transport accounted for 59.4% of the sector’s services, passenger transport for 28.1%, and storage and postal services for 12.5%.

Freight carried in the transport sector reached 162.7 million tonnes, up 3.0% from the same period a year earlier. Road accounted for 63.4% of freight, pipelines 25.3%, rail 7.5%, sea 3.6% and air 0.2%. Passenger journeys rose 9.6% to 1,491.1 million; road carried 89.8%, the metro 9.5% and other modes 0.7%. Service value, tonnes and passenger journeys are different measures; the release does not by itself establish profitability or available capacity.
