Story details
The Asian Development Bank and Viet Nam’s government signed $42.76 million in financing to modernize irrigation in Dong Nai, Gia Lai and Quang Ngai provinces. The Climate Adaptation Through Irrigation Modernization Project will upgrade seven systems, improve water management and directly benefit about 295,500 people.
The package comprises $40.66 million from ADB and two ADB-administered grants financed by Japan: $1.5 million from the Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific and $600,000 from the High-Level Technology Fund. The project aims to expand reliably irrigated land to 21,941 hectares and land for high-value crops and diversification to 11,399 hectares. Women are to make up at least 40% of training participants in efficient irrigation and climate-adaptive agriculture.
