The programme was presented as a forum for scientific exchange, professional development and international collaboration in family medicine and primary care. Speakers described family doctors’ roles in prevention, early detection, chronic-disease management and continuity of care. The attendance figure is approximate, and the release does not identify research findings or clinical recommendations adopted by the congress.

A new clinic at Hamad General Hospital brings pulmonary and sleep medicine together with psychiatry to assess and treat non-respiratory sleep disorders in adults. Home sleep studies and overnight polysomnography may be used when needed.
