Story details

The Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) announced up to C$546,945 for a three-year project with the Yukon Wood Products Association on 21 October. The program is intended to help Yukon forestry businesses and First Nations improve timber access, regulatory readiness and operations, while developing local biomass opportunities.

A component called Leadership, Education and Advancement in Forestry (LEAF) will provide training and support for technical and regulatory work such as timber-harvesting plans. The announcement describes sector-wide capacity building; it does not specify a biomass facility or a production-capacity target.
