Story details
The initiative announced on 19 October will evaluate 12 Xe-100 units near the former Breed Generating Station site in Sullivan County. The company described the project as proposed and the agreement as a step to advance feasibility work. The announcement is not a construction decision or evidence that licenses or permits have been secured.
The proposed 12-unit plant would total 960 MW based on the Xe-100 design’s stated 80 MWe per unit. X-energy described it as the second US commercial deployment under its collaboration with Amazon and reiterated their goal of bringing more than 5 GW of new nuclear capacity to the US grid by 2039. Project capacity and timing are forward-looking statements; funding, approvals, site suitability and further agreements remain conditions.
