The US Department of Energy authorized PJM to dispatch generation and backup resources ahead of forecast high demand and planned outages in the Mid-Atlantic.
On October 12, the Department of Energy announced an emergency order directing PJM Interconnection to dispatch specified generating units as needed to maintain reliability. The agency cited elevated demand, a high rate of planned generator outages during autumn maintenance, and planned transmission outages in the region.
The order is effective October 13–16, 2026. PJM may call on backup generation as a last resort before or during an Energy Emergency Alert 3. DOE estimated that more than 35 gigawatts of unused backup generation is available nationwide; that figure is not a regional capacity total for this order.

Iberdrola España said it has installed more than 85,000 private charging points and over 12,000 public ones, taking its total above 97,000. The company says it accounts for one in five chargers installed in Spain.
US battery maker Eos Energy estimated third-quarter revenue of $82 million to $83 million and a gross margin of negative 55% to negative 53%. The company said the figures are preliminary and it will publish its full financial report later.

Measurement and privacy details
Google Analytics measurement starts only if you allow it. After consent, automatic measurement may cover scrolls, outbound link clicks, downloads, video engagement, site searches and basic form interactions; search terms may be detected from URL parameters. This site’s own code does not send form field values; email redaction in automatic measurement is best-effort, not guaranteed. Our manual page-view event uses a cleaned URL. You can change your choice later. Visits that begin with consent may also send numeric LCP, INP and CLS performance measurements after Analytics loads. A first or later grant starts this on the next page load; withdrawing consent stops these performance reports for this page. The preference cookie lasts six months; advertising measurement and personalization stay off.
