Story details

The fourth UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence concluded in Riyadh on September 17. The Saudi Press Agency reported that the September 14–17 event brought together 60 ministers and heads of delegations and international organizations, 200 speakers and more than 10,000 visitors. The programme included over 100 sessions, workshops and side events. Discussions covered putting ethical principles into institutional and technical practice, responsible governance, risk management and capacity building.

Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) launched five capacity-building frameworks in data and AI and four professional certifications in data management and governance. Eight government entities were also recognized in the first assessment cycle of the National AI Index. The third edition of the Data and AI Glossary added Spanish and more than 200 terms, taking the total beyond 1,400 terms across four languages.

The forum’s reported outcomes record programmes and frameworks announced at the event; the source did not provide an evaluation of their implementation or impact. Because attendance was reported as “more than 10,000,” this account retains the threshold rather than presenting an exact total.
