TotalEnergies and Mistral announced on September 15 a three-year joint programme to develop AI models for oil and gas reservoir exploration and engineering. The companies plan to invest more than €100 million, combining TotalEnergies’ subsurface data and scientific expertise with Mistral’s AI capabilities.

TotalEnergies said the programme will combine its subsurface datasets with nearly a century of geoscience and reservoir-engineering expertise. The announcement describes tools under development, not a finished product or a reported field result.
