Story details

Sudan News Agency reported that the container terminal at Port Sudan’s South Port handled 21,050 physical containers, equivalent to 33,393 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), during September 2026. The port authority’s figures covered 38 vessels: 21 container ships and 17 general-cargo vessels.

Imports accounted for 11,113 containers and 17,768 TEU, or 53.21% of the reported TEU total. Exports accounted for 9,937 containers and 15,625 TEU, or 46.79%. The report also included full, empty and transshipment containers; it did not provide a year-on-year comparison or a measure of port capacity, so the September count alone does not establish a trend or utilization rate.
