Story details

Research commissioned by South of Scotland Enterprise identified 202 projects with the potential to unlock £31.8 billion of investment across the South of Scotland. The Scottish Government said on 5 October that the projects span clean energy, natural capital, advanced manufacturing, technology, life sciences, tourism and creative industries.

If realised, the opportunities could support 73,000 construction job-years and almost 8,000 long-term jobs. Those figures describe potential impacts in the research; they are not approved investment, secured funding or jobs already created. The underlying regional transformation report was due to be published during the week beginning 12 October.
