Story details

Renewable sources generated 9.1 terawatt-hours of electricity in Scotland in the second quarter of 2026. The Scottish Government’s Q2 energy statistics, published on 29 September, say this was the highest renewable output recorded for any second quarter.

The report put renewable generation capacity at 18.4 gigawatts at the end of June 2026, up 3.3% from the end of Q2 2025. Generation and installed capacity are separate measures; the 9.1 TWh figure refers only to electricity produced during April–June.
