Story details

Al-Baha Green has generated an economic return exceeding SAR25 million, according to a 22 October Saudi Press Agency report describing the municipality’s initiative. The programme took first place in the sixth Gulf Cooperation Council municipal-work award for 2025–2026, the report said.

Al-Baha Municipality reported participation by 10,150 volunteers in 535 initiatives, totalling 84,500 volunteer hours. It also said more than one million trees, shrubs and flowers had been planted across 143 parks. That is a mixed planting count, not a claim that one million trees alone were planted.

For resource use in Al-Baha Region, the municipality said treated water met 75% of irrigation needs and smart irrigation had reduced freshwater consumption by 40%. The announcement does not specify the comparison baseline, measurement period or calculation method for those water indicators.

The economic-return figure is likewise attributed to the initiative’s official account: the report does not set out how the benefit was valued or equate it with cash revenue or profit. The update therefore documents the municipality’s reported results and award recognition, rather than an independently audited assessment of the programme’s financial and environmental impact.
