Story details

Saudi petrochemicals producer SABIC said revenue in the third quarter of 2026 rose 14% from the previous quarter to 28.17 billion Saudi riyals (SAR), in results released on October 25. Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 40% quarter on quarter to SAR 4.75 billion. The company reported adjusted operating profit, or EBIT, of SAR 2.17 billion and said this was 434% above the SAR 410 million recorded in the second quarter. These are quarter-on-quarter comparisons as presented by the company.

SABIC’s adjusted net result also moved from a SAR 380 million loss in the second quarter to adjusted net income of SAR 840 million in the third. Adjusted earnings per share were SAR 0.28, compared with an adjusted loss per share of SAR 0.13 in the prior quarter. The adjusted measures are the company’s own performance indicators and should not be read as identical to statutory reported earnings. The revenue increase is not a year-on-year comparison: the release compares the third quarter with the three months immediately before it.

On its balance sheet, SABIC reported a net debt position of SAR 3.03 billion at September 30, 2026, up from SAR 2.73 billion at June 30. The net debt figure is a company-defined measure and does not, by itself, describe the maturity profile of borrowings or total liabilities. The quarterly summary also reported a total recordable incident rate of 0.06. That operational safety measure is distinct from the financial indicators.

Among the quarter’s project developments, SABIC listed a final investment decision by its subsidiary SABIC Agri-Nutrients for an ammonia and urea complex. The company gave planned annual capacities of 1.2 million tonnes of ammonia and 2.6 million tonnes of urea, saying the latter would lift its current urea capacity by 54%. These are planned design capacities, not actual output. SABIC also said feedstock had been allocated for a new methanol plant in Jubail, with planned annual capacity of 1.8 million tonnes. Feedstock allocation does not mean the plant has been completed or started production.

The company’s quarterly highlights also said the sale of its engineering thermoplastics business in the Americas and Europe was completed at an enterprise value of US$450 million. SABIC said its transformation programme had so far delivered SAR 3.56 billion of the SAR 11.3 billion recurring EBITDA impact targeted by 2030. It also reported a 2025 local-content score above 61%, more than 9% higher than in 2024. These are separate operational and strategic updates in the company’s quarterly release, rather than explanations of the quarter’s revenue or earnings movement.
